The SCORIA paddle is a top-tier thermoformed paddle featuring a traditional shape delivering exceptional control. Its uncommonly lightweight design for an elongated paddle enhances maneuverability, and it's extra long six inch handle makes it perfect for players with tennis experience & those looking to enhance their games with two-handed backhands.

Key Benefits

  • Enhanced Maneuverability: Lightweight design allows for swift movements and quick reactions.
  • Superior Control: Foam injection and thermoformed construction provide excellent stability and control.  By adding extra layers of T700, three on each side, the paddle feels solid with no deadspots and consistent performance.
  • Maximum Spin: The tightweave raw carbon surface ensures maximum spin for advanced gameplay.
  • Comfort and Grip: The 6-inch handle with a 4.25-inch circumference offers a comfortable and secure grip.

Durability: Due to the thermoformed construction and use of extra layers of carbon fiber, three on each side, Scoria paddles tend to last a very long time compared to most thermoformed paddles.

Features

  • Thermoformed unibody construction with heat-welded carbon fiber.
  • Foam injected throughout the paddle's perimeter.

History

The SCORIA paddle was designed in North Carolina with a focus on combining traditional paddle shapes with modern materials and construction techniques. The use of thermoformed unibody construction and TORAY T700 Raw Carbon Fiber ensures durability and performance, catering to serious players who demand the best from their equipment.

Behind the Name

SCORIA is inspired by the volcanic term for a flaming molten projectile, reflecting the paddle's dynamic and powerful performance characteristics.  Since it’s release, the average level of “power” paddles has increased so dramatically that the Scoria now is generally considered a control paddle.  Compared to first generation raw carbon fiber paddles, it does, however, hold a significant power advantage.

Ethos Scoria

The Ethos Scoria is my fourth paddle since I started playing pickleball. However the second “real” paddle I’ve had. So far it has been an amazing paddle. My games have improved! I love the tackiness of the paddle face and have had several positive comments about it. The main thing I am impressed with, is the handle length. I have returned so many shots thanks to the reach I have now. My only concern is the grip. It is a little too smooth and with the sweat I can feel it slipping from my grip as opposed to other grips. I’ll likely re-wrap it. I well, it has been a wonderful find and paddle!

Better than my Selkirk

After using a Selkirk Luxx Control paddle I wanted to get a bit more power but not give up the control I was getting. I gave the Scoria a try and wow, what a paddle. A nice boost in power, lots more spin than the Selkirk, and yet very forgiving at the net. And my two-handed backhand--well, I can really rip them now. Overall the best paddle I've used, and at a great value!

The Scoria is an awesome paddle

The Scoria paddle is crip on vollys and had enough power to slam balls with no problem. It is easy to dink with! I love my Ethos Scoria!!!

Scoria review - my fifth type of paddle

I started with a beginner paddle from one of those four-in-one sets on Amazon. Then tried the Wilson Juice and loved the blade shape as a past tennis player. However the materials were not great and two of them broke on me. Then I tried a step up with the Engage Pursuit. Better performance but within a few months I felt a subtle crack had formed between the handle and face. This happened to two new Engage paddles. I worried that I wouldn't be able to find a blade paddle/reach that wouldn't be always breaking.

My friend recommended I check out Ethos' Scoria, which is thermoformed, so it's not two pieces connected like the Wilson or Engage seemed to be. The Scoria has given me the same feel and performance as a blade without losing the sweet spot or the breaking that the other paddles had. Better control than the other ones too. Very happy with Ethos' communication (customer service) and this paddle.

Amount of Pace Coming off the Paddle..

Coming from a two handed backhand tennis background, I was originally drawn to the Scoria due to its 6" handle. After playing with the first one I purchased, I knew almost immediately this would be the paddle I would use long term. The ability to hit heavy ground strokes I expected, but not with the amount of control the Scoria provides. I can shape and soften my shots at the kitchen with this paddle more so than others I have used. I thought there would be a trade-off with what I would gain in power....I would lose in control. I just haven't found that to be the case. So, I'm all in on the Scoria. Just received my second Scoria paddle, today.
